Denigran is a type of granular media made from special plastic to improve the deposition of nitrate-removing bacteria. The most important nutrient, nitrate, is removed from the algae without chemical additives; additional feeding of the bacteria is not required.
The optimally designed mesh bag provides the best possible water flow along the media.
Denigran is effective for up to 12 months depending on the population.

Supports the natural nitrate reduction and thus helps against algae problems

In most aquariums, nitrate is caused by feeding the animals or by dying parts of the plants, which are more than used by existing plants. One way to keep the nitrate level up is by regularly changing water or by using nitrate filters. If tap water already has a higher nitrate content and water desalination or controlling a nitrate filter is too complex, you can use Aqua Medic Denigran.
It is made of a biodegradable plastic which is in a special bag, which allows limited flow through a filter with strong flow and which is oxygen-rich.
Oxygen quickly develops in the bags due to the limited flow and the bacteria then extract their oxygen from the nitrate. Nitrogen gas remains on what subsequently escapes. 1 – 2 bags are used on 50 liters of aquarium water, depending on the animals and the nitrate content. Do not add all the bags at once, but build this up slowly with an interval of approximately fourteen days.
It is normal for the water to become cloudy, this is caused by bacterial growth. If the aquarium remains cloudy, the number of bags must be reduced. Over time, the plastic balls are consumed by the bacteria.
The bags must then be gradually replaced, but not opened or refilled. The nitrogen gas that has collected in the bags is
harmless. It can be removed by squeezing the bags.

Normally it takes 3 to 6 weeks for the granulate to contain enough bacteria. Put the bags in a filter in such a way that the water can still flow around it, this way the filter does not clog.
