Medic is a highly effective water treatment agent that is used to combat external fish parasites in both marine and freshwater environments. It contains a reef-resistant oxidant and is particularly effective against:
Marine Ich – Crytpocaryon irritans
Freshwater Ich – Ichthyophthirius multifiliis
Marine Velvet – Amyloodinium ocellatum
Characteristics
– Complete reefsafe
– Buffered not to lower the pH
– Causes danger to invertebrates
– It is not harmful to nitrifying bacteria
How Medic works :
many external fish parasites have similar life cycles. In particular, these parasites have a "bonded" phase (trophonts), a "mature" phase (protomonts), a "reproductive" phase (tomonts) and a "free-swimming" phase (theronts / dinospores). Most of the available treatments do not focus on the free-swimming stage of the parasite, which is one of the major problems in dealing with these infections.
Research with ciliated protozoans has shown that the "free-swimming" stage of these parasites has remarkably consistent hatching times. We have designed our product to be the most efficient at this stage.
Our conditioner focuses on the trophont stage of the parasite, but also disrupts the life cycle during the "free swimming" stage. Thus, when Medic is used, hobbyists should try to maintain the highest concentration of medication during this "free-swimming" time frame – when the oxidative component in the drug is particularly effective against theronts / dinospores.
Active ingredients: crystallized peroxide salts.
Usage guidelines:
Use one spoon of Medic twice a day for every 190 liters of your system volume.
Dose once in the morning (before 10 a.m. if possible).
Dose once in the evening (if possible after 10 p.m.).
Continue dosing for 10 days.
Note: ozone and activated carbon must not be used during treatment. Protein skimmers can be used normally. UV filter can be used 1 hour after the product has been added to the aquarium / sump
The infection seems to disappear when white spots are no longer visible on the fish. This is only part of the natural cycle of the parasite and you must continue to dose the product throughout the course (10 days) to be maximally effective.
After the treatment is complete, use activated carbon for 2 or 3 days.
Store the product in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
