WHAT IS GENESIS ROCK?

Genesis Rock is a 100% ceramic compound that is fired at over 600 degrees, ensuring it lasts for years in your tank. Each block offers more than 23,000 square feet of space for beneficial aquarium bacteria to thrive, significantly improving filtration power while reducing phosphates, nitrates, and other dissolved organic compounds. You can use Genesis Rock in both fresh and saltwater aquariums, placing it under your sand or rock substrate, within your refugium, or simply camouflaged in your aquascape.

WHAT IS GENESIS BACTERIA?

This is a concentrated mix of dormant bacteria. In collaboration with a Canadian biotechnology firm, we have developed a custom blend of bacterial strains containing over 80 billion cells/mL. In their planktonic state, these bacteria serve as a nutritious food source for corals and zooplankton. More importantly, these complementary bacterial strains form nutrient-consuming biofilms.

GENESIS ROCK DIRECTIONS:

Each Genesis Rock can support aquariums up to 1300 liters, and our kit provides a total coverage of 2600 liters with two rocks. For tanks with heavier bio loads, such as predator tanks, you should consider increasing the coverage beyond this recommendation.

Rinse the material well with purified water, preferably using aquarium water. Our rock is designed for zero leaching, resulting in minimal dust, but we still recommend a wash just to be safe.

Place Genesis Rock in a plastic container filled with aquarium water, then add your favorite bacterial product (we recommend Polyplab Genesis). Add the bacteria according to the size of your aquarium. Allow the Genesis Rocks to sit for at least 12 hours before placing them inside your aquarium. If you are not using any bacterial supplement, you can directly place the rinsed rock into the aquarium. Discard the soaked water to avoid transferring any microscopic dust into your aquarium.

Using more blocks than the recommended capacity is perfectly fine, as it will enhance your filtration power.

Aerobic – Optimized for Nitrite and Ammonia Removal

To create aerobic bacteria, position the blocks above water level over your refugium or overflow, or suspend them in your system. Allow tank water to flow over the rocks, letting the overflow run into your sump, refugium, or display. It is advisable to limit the flow to around 40 gallons per hour for this application.

Anaerobic – Optimized for Nitrate Removal

Install the Genesis Rocks in a low flow area that is as oxygen-deprived as possible, below the waterline. This can be in a low flow section of your sump or refugium, beneath your sand, or integrated into your aquascape. Anaerobic bacteria thrive in these low oxygen environments, effectively breaking down nitrates.

Aerobic & Anaerobic – Optimized for General Performance

Place the Genesis Rocks in a medium flow area of your tank, sump, refugium, or any section of your system with moderate water movement. This setup allows the outer surfaces of the Genesis Rocks to cultivate aerobic bacteria while the inner sections generate anaerobic bacteria. Please ensure that the Genesis Rock is not positioned where it might rub against other equipment, as this could damage the block, such as near a vibrating protein skimmer.

GENESIS BACTERIA DIRECTIONS:

Administer 1 drop per 75 liters of total system water volume daily. If you are cycling a new system, increase to 4 drops daily per 75 liters for two weeks.
