Blue Shark Agent Green Phoshate remover
ATM Agent Green Phosphate Remover is designed to eliminate phosphate at a speed that outpaces its accumulation. This product works through an ion exchange process, leveraging the natural attraction between calcium, similar alkaline metals, and phosphate to form insoluble beads. These beads are inert and safe for aquatic wildlife. When Agent Green is introduced into a high-flow area of your system, it creates an immediate smoky effect in the water. The denser the smoke, the more phosphate is being removed. This visible smokiness serves as a clear indication that phosphate is being effectively precipitated out of the system.
Function
- Removes Phosphates Instantly
- Bound Phosphates Remain Insoluble Until Removed By Filtration
- Safe For Aquatic Wildlife Including Corals
Agent Green Is Safe
It is essential to understand that there are various formulations of lanthanum chloride, and some may not be suitable for use with livestock. However, Agent Green poses no risks to freshwater or marine life. As is the case in many aspects of life, using the right tool for the job is crucial. Always Trust The Shark with the safety of your livestock.
Control
Agent Green offers unparalleled variable control for phosphate removal, allowing you to measure it precisely with the directed dose. In comparison, the performance of alternative removal systems can be quite unpredictable.
Instructions
Use ATM Agent GreenTM when phosphate levels reach 0.1 ppm or higher. It may create a temporary cloud in your aquarium, but this will clear quickly. Remember to shake well before use. Add it directly to a high-flow area of the aquarium, preferably before mechanical filtration. In reef systems with sumps, add it just before the overflow. Do not remove more than 1 ppm of phosphate per day. Do not overdose.
Caution: This product is not for human consumption. Please keep it out of reach of children. If ingested, contact a poison control center immediately.
Prior To Dosage
Agent Green utilizes the natural attraction of calcium and similar alkaline metals to phosphate, conducting an ion exchange that binds phosphate with lanthanum chloride. It is important to note that Agent Green will not be effective if there is little to no calcium or alkaline values in the water.
Application
Strictly adhere to the instructions for removing 1 ppm of phosphate daily with Agent Green. Use a standard medicine dropper to dose 1 ml per 38 L (10 gallons) into a high-flow area of the aquarium. This is approximately equal to two drops per 3.78 L (1 gallon). It is crucial to add it to a high-flow area to ensure maximum dispersal. You should observe a visible “smoke” effect in the water upon dosing. If you do not see this effect, it may indicate that the water column lacks sufficient alkalinity for effective phosphate removal. This situation often occurs in freshwater systems without calcium buffering.
Additional Tips And Considerations
- A handful of crushed sea shells or oyster shells per 95 L (25 gallons) in a freshwater aquarium can help maintain calcium levels for effective phosphate removal with Agent Green.
Phosphate Leaching
When using Agent Green in well-established aquariums, there is a chance that phosphate has absorbed into the rocks and other media. In such cases, phosphate may leach out from the rock and media to balance its equilibrium with the water column. This can create the impression that Agent Green has not removed any phosphate; however, the reality is that phosphate has been removed and replaced by leached phosphate. This is actually a positive outcome, as Agent Green is unique in its ability to remove phosphate from both the water column and the media.
Note: Once formed, Agent Green creates an insoluble compound that will not dissolve.
