Ultra-high capacity aquarium filter media for heavy metal removal
- Permanently remove heavy metals to restore aquarium water quality
- Reuse several times – remove, rinse, dry, and store for later use
Permanently remove unseen heavy metal pollutants to restore the quality of your aquarium water. Two Little Fishies MetaSorb UHC quickly binds and removes metals that may originate from source water, foods, artificial seawater mixes, therapeutic treatments, corroding metal equipment, magnets, and pumps. You can use MetaSorb UHC for pre-treating new water or newly mixed artificial seawater, for removing copper medications, and for eliminating metals leached from corroding equipment. This product is suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums.
Two Little Fishies MetaSorb UHC is a patented high-capacity polymer developed for the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund Program. It effectively removes all excess metals within hours to a few days. The media pouch designed for 1-250 gallon aquariums removes up to 80 ppm of metals from 940 liters, while the pouch sized for 500-800 gallon aquariums can remove up to 120 ppm of metals from 500 gallons.
To use, simply place the cloth media bag in any canister filter, hang-on-the-back power filter, or in flow-through sections of any sump or filter chamber. MetaSorb UHC can be removed, dried, and stored for later use, allowing for multiple applications.
Did you Know? Mysterious ailments in fish, corals, and other invertebrates may arise when heavy metals reach a toxic threshold.
Directions: Rinse the cloth bag for 30 seconds in clean water before using. Please do not cut or open it! Just place the bag in any canister filter, hang-on-the-back power filter, or in flow-through sections of any sump or filter. Alternatively, you can use the fabric loop at the top corner with a zip tie to attach the bag in a high-flow location. It removes all excess metals within hours to a few days when properly matched to the aquarium capacity.
IMPORTANT: MetaSorb should not be used continuously for more than 10 days. After use, remove the pouch, rinse it briefly, and lay it flat to dry so it can be stored for later use.
Note: Glass beads in the bag allow it to sink properly. The polymer inside the bag may increase in volume and change color as a result of the metals it binds. It does not remove alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, strontium, or organics.
Medications: Remember to remove MetaSorb from the aquarium when using any type of medication to treat the water. After treatment, MetaSorb can be used to completely remove copper medications from the water.
Trace Element Supplements: It is recommended to remove MetaSorb from the aquarium for one day after adding vitamins and trace elements to the water.
Capacity: MetaSorb has an ultra-high capacity to bind metals. The version for 1-250 gallons (Mfg# MET1) removes up to 80 ppm of metals from 940 liters, while the version for 250-800 gallons (Mfg# MET500) removes up to 120 ppm of metals from 500 gallons. There is no risk of overdose, and once the metals bind to the polymer, they cannot be released back into the water. It is safe to leave the bag in the aquarium for extended periods, and it can be removed and reused several times depending on the concentration of the metals and the water volume.
MetaSorb binds the following metals only: Aluminum, Cadmium, Cerium, Cobalt, Copper, Dysprosium, Erbium, Europium, Gadolinium, Gold, Holmium, Iron, Lanthanum, Lead, Lutetium, Manganese, Mercury, Neodymium, Nickel, Samarium, Scandium, Selenium, Silver, Terbium, Ytterbium, and Zinc.
General Information: An excess of heavy metals in the water is toxic to aquatic life. These metals may come from the water source, foods, artificial seawater mixes, therapeutic treatments, corroding metal equipment, magnets, pumps, and more. Mysterious ailments in fish, corals, and other invertebrates may occur when heavy metals reach a toxic threshold. MetaSorb UHC is made with patented high-capacity polymers developed for the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund Program. It is insoluble in water and non-toxic, allowing it to rapidly bind and permanently remove metals from both fresh and saltwater, making it possible to restore water quality. MetaSorb UHC is a fine powder packaged in a small cloth media bag that is easy to locate in any area where high volume water flow will facilitate contact with the polymer.
