Reef Zlements Bromine (Br) – 1 L Supports coral metabolism and marine chemical balance
Bromine (Br) in seawater primarily exists as bromide ions (Br-). Under certain conditions, bromide can be oxidised into other reactive forms such as hypobromous acid (HOBr) and bromine gas (Br2). These compounds can interact with both organic and inorganic matter, significantly influencing the chemical dynamics of your reef system.
Bromine plays a key role in the biochemistry of marine organisms, including corals. It is necessary for the formation of halogenated organic compounds, which support biological functions like defense and metabolism.
According to the Reef Zlements mixing classification, Bromine is identified as a Type C element, which means it requires thoughtful integration into your dosing regime.

Dosage instruction: 10 mL of Bromine Zlement increases bromine levels by 5 mg/L in 100 litres of water.
Available size: 1 Litre Bottle
Important note: If you are using ozone in your system, it is crucial to dose Bromine carefully. The combination of ozone and bromine may lead to the formation of bromate, a toxic compound. Always pass ozonised water through an activated carbon filter to prevent this risk.
