Reef Octopus Salt 6.7kg/box for 165-200 liters
Reef Octopus Marine Salt is a fantastic new sea salt product designed for marine aquariums. It utilizes solar evaporated salt as our primary raw material, aiming to retain the essential and trace elements as closely as possible to natural seawater. Each batch of our raw materials undergoes rigorous laboratory testing, followed by specific enhancements and adjustments to ensure their physical and chemical stability once re-dissolved.
After production, each batch is sampled, tested, and assessed to meet the highest quality standards before being sold. To make your experience even better, the product is fully dehydrated, resulting in a uniform and clean appearance. It dissolves quickly and stably, with minimal precipitation, saving you valuable time when changing water in your tanks.

RO Water
We highly recommend using Reef Octopus Marine Salt with Reverse Osmosis (RO) water or soft water that contains a calcium level lower than 30 mg/l. Since the calcium level in Reef Octopus Salt is already enhanced to 420 mg/l, mixing it with hard tap water that has additional calcium could elevate the concentration beyond the recommended levels, leading to calcium precipitation.
Using RO water helps eliminate unwanted ions like phosphate and nitrate from your tap water, which can otherwise contribute to nuisance algae in your aquarium.
Mixing Instructions
To mix the salt, please follow these steps:
- Using a clean container, add 1 kg of Reef Octopus Salt to 27.5 liters of water (1 lb to 2.9 U.S. gallons).
- Mix thoroughly until all the salt is dissolved and the solution is clear.
- For optimal results, aerate and churn the mixture for over 2 hours, and bring it to the appropriate temperature before use.
- Check the specific gravity (S.G.) before adding to the aquarium. If necessary, adjust by adding more salt or water to achieve the correct S.G. reading. Remember that S.G. can change with temperature.
For accurate and consistent measurements of your salt solution’s S.G., we recommend using a portable refractometer.
This 6.7 kg box is suitable for 165-200 liters (14.55 lbs for 43-52 U.S. gallons).
